Newly pregnant? Hoping to become pregnant?
Emerson Hospital hosts free workshop
(CONCORD, Mass., May 19, 2008)--Emerson Hospital will host Baby Steps, a free workshop, on Saturday, June 7, from 8:00 am-1:00 pm for anyone newly pregnant or hoping to become pregnant. The event, which will be held at the Westford Regency Inn & Conference Center at 219 Littleton Road in Westford, will cover everything from pre-conception to childbirth to a baby’s first night at home. Obstetricians, fertility experts, a lactation consultant, a pediatrician, and an anesthesiologist will hold discussions and answer questions. A video tour will showcase Emerson’s new Birthing Center, featuring private postpartum rooms, a Level 2 Special Care Nursery, high-risk pregnancy services, 24/7 in-house anesthesiologists and pediatricians, one-on-one labor nursing, and more. The day also includes raffles and a fashion show by 9 Months, which will present the Isabella Oliver collection.
“Just as significant as a baby’s first steps are the weighty decisions a new mom and dad make when preparing for the birth of a baby,” said Christine Schuster, president and CEO of Emerson Hospital. “As a mother myself, I recall how overwhelming impending parenthood can feel, so we hope this event provides information, clarity, and assurance that Emerson is here to help.”
Emerson’s new Birthing Center is part of the hospital’s $36-million initiative to enhance the patient experience in three key areas: surgery, obstetrics and interventional radiology. The project combines new construction with a series of innovative renovations and upgrades. The new postpartum unit will combine more than 14,000 square feet of new construction and renovation on and adjacent to the third floor. The private rooms are designed with attention to feng shui principles like color, sunlight, and mood, to create a soothing environment ideal for a family to spend time after the birth of a baby.
