Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction & Self Healing Techniques
For people who are diagnosed with Cancer

The stress of living with cancer can benefit from a personal healing quest – to find coping and healing skills you can use every day. In this three-week class, we will explore Mindfulness Practices, Energy Techniques and Personal Expression as ways to support you on your journey.

Mindfulness practices will support you in meeting your fear in a new way. Fear, anger and depression are a normal part of any serious diagnosis, yet often times we do not know how to meet these emotions and care for them. So they stay longer and distract from our healing. Learning how to be with these emotions creates the space for your body to move into its own innate capacity to heal.

Energy Techniques will teach you how to maintain your energy levels and learn to develop stronger boundaries for yourself. You will learn to manage your stress and explore the aspects of your life that give you nurturance.

Personal Expression will allow you to share both your feelings and also tap into your innate creativity to foster healing.

PREPARE FOR SURGERY, HEAL FASTER WORKSHOP
Prepare for an upcoming surgical or medical procedure to feel calmer, have less pain, fewer complications and recover sooner. Please call to arrange a convenient, private workshop.
$95 includes book/relaxation CD
One surgery companion may attend for free

PRENATAL EXERCISE FOR A HEALTHIER PREGNANCY
Specifically designed for mothers-to-be, this class teaches exercises for injury prevention, strengthening and general conditioning. Led by Patricia Davis, Emerson Hospital physical therapist.
$85 for each six-week session beginning:
April 6, June 1 or July 20
All classes are Monday 7:00-8:30 pm


NEW! PRACTICAL AND EFFECTIVE SELF-DEFENSE FOR ADULTS, TEENS, CHILDREN AND FAMILIES
Learn physical and verbal techniques for self-defense and personal and family safety in these fun and practical six-week progressive classes. Presented by Len and Johanna Glazer, 3nd degree black belt instructors from Concord Self-Defense.
$100 for an individual student, $80 for each additional family member (age 6 and up).
Six-week program begins Sunday, March 1, April 26 or June 28, 3:00-4:30 pm. Classes are ongoing--you can join in at any time.

YOGA & MEDITATION
Reduce stress and muscle tension, improve flexibility and strength, and learn breathing techniques to manage your moods. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring an exercise mat. Not for expectant mothers.
Please choose Monday class taught by certified instructor, Laurel Fardella, or Friday class taught by certified instructor, Nancy Dorenfeld.

$91 for each seven-week session beginning:

TAI CHI
Tai Chi, an ancient Chinese martial art, is practiced to achieve therapeutic benefits, as well as to promote balance, flexibility and overall strength. The instructor is Ming Wu, PhD.
$98 for each eight-week session.
Wednesdays 9:30-10:30 am, March 11, May 6 or July 1. Classes are ongoing--you can join in at any time.


BABYSITTING TRAINING: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
One-day class for ages 10-13 covers everything you need to know to be a great babysitter! Certificate of participation awarded upon completion. Taught by educator Becky Patterson. Pre-registration is required. 
Choose a Saturday: April 25, May 9, June 20, July 25 or Aug. 29. All classes held 9:00 am-2:00 pm
$39 per person or 2/$70 when registering together


QUIT SMOKING WITH HYPNOSIS
Hypnosis can be a solid tool to help you quit smoking by taking away the cravings and withdrawal. Presented by Joseph Packard, board-certified hypnotherapist.
All classes are Thursdays (7:00-9:00 pm)
$100 for 3 sessions, August 6, 13, 20


HYPNOSIS FOR WEIGHT LOSS
The natural and safe process of hypnosis, allows you to uncover the underlying emotions, feelings, thoughts and attitudes causing your weight challenges. It then guides you toward healthy change, and to create a healthy lifestyle with healthy eating patterns. Presented by Joseph Packard, a board certified Hypnotherapist from the National Guild of Hypnotherapists
All classes are Thursdays (5:00-7:00 pm)
$100 for 3 sessions, August 6, 13, 20

MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS REDUCTION
Learn to use your inner wisdom to help improve health, relationships and quality of life. Approved for 30 contact hours for nursing for the eight-week program attendance. Presented by Patricia Howard.
$590 plus $45 for required course materials/CD set

Payment for classes must be received 48 hours in advance of the class. Refunds for cancellations will not be issued after that date. If a program needs to be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment or inclement weather, you will be notified. If you have any questions, please call 978-287-3777.
