Healthcare Provider Course includes use of an automated external defibrillator and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction for victims of all ages. It is intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a wide variety of settings (i.e. doctor/dentist offices) CPR skills appropriate for healthcare workers and anyone entering a healthcare career or training program. Participants must pass a written exam and successfully complete a skills demonstration. Upon successful completion, participants receive an American Heart Association Certification Card which is valid for 2 years from date of issue.

Heartsaver CPR & AED Course focuses on: chain of survival for adults, infants and children; importance of calling 911; techniques of CPR; rescue techniques for choking; child safety and injury prevention; the signs and symptoms of cardiac arrest and stroke and instruction in the use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED). This course is appropriate for daycare providers, fitness instructors, teachers, lifeguards, camp counselors, people who are expected to perform CPR in the workplace and anyone who desires to learn CPR to benefit their families/friends. Participants must successfully demonstrate skills. Upon successful completion, participants receive an American Heart Association Certification Card which is valid for 2 years from date of issue.

BLS Instructor Course Pre-requisite: Current Healthcare Provider Level BLS Completion Card
Course Content includes: AHA Training Network, Skills. BLS Science, Teaching and Learning Strategies, Evolution and Revolution, Watch & Practice Videos, Scenario Practice, Principles of Written Examination and Practical Evaluation, Review of AHA Course Options, Principles of Remedial Instruction, Provider Course Administration, Manikin Maintenance and Decontamination, Instructor Candidate Presentations, Written Exam.

I HOPE YOU’LL DANCE: USING DANCE TO RECOVER FROM CANCER
Increase your energy and enjoy yourself through our dance workshop. Join others who have navigated the challenging road of cancer diagnosis and healing. This class meets on Saturday mornings from 10-11 am in the Donaldson Conference Room. Dance experience not required.

ACUPUNCTURE FOR RELIEF OF CANCER SYMPTOMS
Many oncology patients have benefited from acupuncture and have used it successfully to minimize their fatigue, nausea, anxiety and other symptoms. A certified acupuncturist is on-site at Emerson every Friday morning. Also, information sessions are available each Friday in John Cuming Building, Suite 410 from 11 am-12 pm.
