New Class Starts January 19 in Westford

1/2/17: Emerson Hospital Offers Infant Massage Class

For centuries, new parents have used massage techniques on their infants for relaxation, bonding, and overall health. Infant massage has many health benefits including helping babies with digestion, blood flow, development of their nervous systems, and relief from colic and gas which can be uncomfortable for some babies.

Emerson Hospital’s Wellness Center for Mind and Body is offering an infant massage class in Westford beginning January 19. Mary Evans, DPT, a certified early intervention specialist with over 20 years of experience working with babies and their parents in both home and outpatient settings, is the instructor.

The class will meet at the Emerson Hospital Health Center in Westford, located at 133 Littleton Road. It is appropriate for full term infants, those born prematurely and those with a history of medical complications. Caregivers will learn techniques that can be used at home and in other places. The classes will meet on Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. starting January 19.

For more information and to register for this class, and many other wellness classes taking place this winter at The Emerson Wellness Center for Mind and Body, visit www.emersonwellness.org or call 978-287-3777.
