Free Workshop February 16 at The Thoreau Center


1/26/17: Fast Tracking After Injury, Lessons from an Orthopedic Surgeon and a Physical Therapist with Emerson Hospital

Is an injury holding you back from performing at your physical best?  Are you itching to get back to your routine?  Do you have a child who is an athlete and wants to get back to playing sports after an injury?  Join John Cahoy, MD and Ryan Stoddard, PT, who will answer your questions about injuries and rehab strategies at a free workshop – Fast Tracking After Injury – on Thursday, February 16 from 11:30 – 12:30 p.m. at The Thoreau Center, 275 Forest Ridge Road, Concord.  Whether you are an elite athlete, a weekend warrior or just want to get back to your routine, the experts will help guide you back to health.   

Dr. Cahoy is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon with Orthopedic Affiliates, affiliated with Emerson Hospital.  He earned his medical degree and Ph.D. in developmental biology from Stanford University and completed his fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. His clinical interests include comprehensive pediatric orthopedic services, pediatric upper and lower extremity fractures, pediatric and adult foot and ankle injuries and deformities, treatment of athletic injuries and non-operative management of adolescent scoliosis and spine conditions.

In addition to his medical expertise, Dr. Cahoy is an accomplished athlete. He was Captain of the University of Minnesota Swimming and Diving Team and was a USA Swimming national champion and a member of the US National Team, competing as a member of Team USA at the Goodwill Games and the World University Games. He also competed on the Stanford University cycling team at the national level through the National Collegiate Cycling Association.

Ryan Stoddard is a chief physical therapist and orthopedic clinical specialist at Emerson Hospital’s Center for Rehabilitative and Sports Therapies. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy and achieved a specialty board certification in Orthopedics through the American Physical Therapy Association.  In addition, he has earned his strength and conditioning specialty certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. His treatment style incorporates the best evidence-based medicine with manual therapy and corrective exercises.
