Our Team


The Center for Weight Loss staff is dedicated to fighting obesity. Led by renowned bariatric surgeon, Dr. David Lautz, our team has worked with thousands of patients struggling with weight-related problems. We have a deep understanding and compassion for the unique physical and emotional obstacles these individuals face every day.

It’s rewarding to see patients after surgery in follow-up as they are losing weight, decreasing their number of medications and feeling good about themselves.”  Read Bio Cheri earned her master’s degree in Science and Physician Assistant certification at the University of New England in 2003. She is a member of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Previously, she was a physician assistant in the General Surgery Service at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

“Building a relationship with patients prior to surgery is important. As the medical assistant, I triage patients, and am often the first one they talk to. My goal is to be sure each patient feel satisfied with our care.”  Read Bio Stephanie is a medical assistant and office coordinator. She received her Medical Professional Certification at American Career Institute. She has several years of working in the medical field and was previously a medical assistant at private practice office.

Jessica Peters, MS, RD, LDN

“Surgery, proper nutrition and exercise are like instruments in an orchestra. You are the conductor, and your weight loss journey is your symphony. My job is to make sure the instruments are in tune.”  Read Bio Jessica received her master’s degree in Nutrition from Boston University and completed her postgraduate training at Emerson Hospital. She uses her education to help guide patients through their weight loss journey and support their transition to a healthier life.

Sarah Churchill, MS, RD, LDN

Registered Dietitian

“I am invigorated by my patients’ drive and determination to take control of their health. It is a pleasure to be part of such a dedicated multidisciplinary team that supports patients in reaching their goals.”  Read Bio Sarah received her Master of Science in nutrition from Simmons College and completed her post-graduate internship/training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She also holds a degree in culinary arts from Le Cordon Bleu. While her prior clinical work experience has mostly been in the inpatient setting, her interests really lie in health promotion and disease prevention. She thoroughly enjoys working closely with her patients to make healthful changes using food and exercise.

We are invested in the education of our patients and how that knowledge will lead to a healthier, more active lifestyle that meets the personal goals of the person.”  Read Bio Christy is a Registered Nurse with a concentration in business in subsequent education. She has 16 years of experience in leadership that includes bariatrics, OR, psychiatry and medical inpatient services. Prior to joining Emerson, she was the Service Line Director of the bariatrics program at Ellis Medicine and a Senior Application Analyst in the operating room at Albany Medical Center in New York.

Nothing gives me more pleasure than sharing in the patient experience and providing great customer service."  Read Bio Nikesha has worked in the medical field for more than 16 years. She has an Associate of Science degree in criminal justice, a medical office certificate, is a certified nursing assistant, and has taken business hospital management courses. Her role at Emerson is to navigate pre-surgical patients through the bariatric program, assist patients with appointments and to troubleshoot any issues patients may have in order to obtain a date for surgery.

By just their smiles alone, you know that they are enjoying life more.”  Read Bio Haley’s previous experience includes assisting with the data collection and reporting surgical data on research projects. As Clinical Office Coordinator, she enjoys being the first contact point and working one-on-one with our patients. Haley enjoys being able to support and help our patients with the pre- and post-surgery process.

“Having struggled with weight all my life, I have great compassion for those who want to change their lives.”  Read Bio James has worked in a number of different roles and in a number of different departments at Emerson over the past ten-plus years. He was a patient care technician on the cardiac and orthopedic units, a unit coordinator and supervisor of the Patient Access department. As the Clinical Office Coordinator, James works with patients, other physician offices and insurance companies. James is one of the first smiling faces you will see when entering the clinic, and he is thrilled to see patients’ transformations after their hard work and dedication.

I enjoy seeing the positive impact this has on our patients.”  Read Bio Susan brings the experience of 30 plus years managing a medical practice here at Emerson Hospital. She has strong professional relationships with the entire Emerson community. She was chosen by her peers to represent the collective group of Emerson Hospital Practice Managers and as such has served as a member of the Emerson Practice Manager’s Task Force for 20 years.

The pride and confidence they now have in themselves after being successful in their weight loss journey just shines through!”  Read Bio Susan has worked at Emerson for more than 13 years in various positions: unit coordinator, financial counselor, financial coordinator, and analyst. She has vast experience working with insurance companies and recently completed her MBA.
