Where to have your baby is an important decision for you, your baby, and your family. At Emerson Hospital's new Birthing Center, we’ll make your birth experience as comfortable and as special as possible for you and your growing family.

The Birthing Center’s team of medical experts is renowned for their specialized skills, advanced training, and dedication to the health and wellness of you and your baby. We have the most skilled and supportive physicians and nurses available, as well as technologically advanced facilities and equipment.
The Birthing Center also provides:
- One-on-one nursing care
- A separate and secure patient entrance
- Comfortable, private, home-like rooms for labor, delivery and recovery
- High risk pregnancy services, including consultations with a perinatologist
- The area’s only Special Care (Level 2) Nursery, directed by a Massachusetts General Hospital neonatologist, for babies who need extra medical attention
- 24-hour obstetrical anesthesiologists
- 24-hour in-house pediatricians
- Certified lactation (breastfeeding) consultants
- Access to Emerson’s registered dietitians for optimal nutritional counseling
- A centralized computerized fetal monitoring system
- Acupuncture, hypnobirthing, and aromatherapy
- A locked unit for your peace of mind and privacy
Throughout each stage of your pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum care, we will work closely with you and your family. With our exclusive “Tender Beginnings” menu of classes, you and your family members may participate in such programs as prenatal and infant care, sibling preparation, and exercise for mothers-to-be. Postpartum exercise classes and new mother support groups are also available.
