What to Expect
What to expect during your visit
- When you arrive at the Center in Concord or in Westford, you will be asked to sign in at the reception desk.
- If you are coming for a mammogram, ultrasound, or a breast biopsy, our receptionist will direct you to the radiology waiting area.
- After changing into your gown, you will be asked to fill out a brief medical history questionnaire.
- Your mammogram will be taken by a licensed, female mammographic technologist and read by a board certified radiologist.
- The procedure, which takes a few minutes, causes minimal discomfort for most people. Generally, four images will be taken. However, don’t be alarmed if the radiologist requests additional images. Breast tissue is often very dense and additional images may be needed to make an evaluation.
- Your visit usually lasts about 30 to 90 minutes. If further studies or procedures are needed, every attempt will be made to perform these services on the same day. Some procedures may need to be scheduled on another day and can be arranged while you are at the Center.
