Sidhartha Pani, MD, a primary care physician at Emerson Medical at Sudbury, is exhibiting his paintings in the medical office building located at 490 Boston Post Road (Route 20 in Chiswick Park), Sudbury, May 1 through October 31. Dr. Pani’s paintings, which include improvisations from photographs, are known for their vibrant colors, bold brush strokes and extensive use of the palette knife. If a scene catches his eye when he is out walking, biking or driving, he stops and takes a picture, which serves as inspiration for his paintings.
Dr. Pani’s foray into art began when he was sixteen and had a chance meeting with a fine art student, which led to his interest with the palette knife. He had dabbled briefly in art earlier, but it was a canvas he painted when he was sixteen which ignited a passion that would flare briefly before becoming quiescent through many years of training and practicing as a physician and raising a family.
Five years ago, Dr. Pani became an empty nester and art beckoned again when his wife presented him with a course of classes at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. His passion for painting has led to more than 120 completed canvases, many of which have won awards. He recently had a large solo exhibition in India that was very well received.
Painting has given Dr. Pani confidence and a new meaning in life. Besides relieving stress and being a unique expression of his inner self, art has allowed his soul to take flight. He hopes to inspire others to re-awaken their dormant passions and creativity and add joy to their lives and those of others.
The art exhibit is free and open to the public Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Paintings are displayed throughout the lobby of the medical office building.
