Jin Shin Jyutsu is a form of ancient energy medicine, passed down through many generations by word of mouth. It was revived in the early twentieth century by Jiro Murai in Japan. Jin Shin Jyutsu is primarily used to treat illness, injuries, and anxiety. It can help alleviate the side effects of cancer treatments as well as help people recover after surgery. The Jin Shin Jyutsu form of healing is based on the belief that all ailments stem from a blockage of energy paths. Once those blockages are opened up, the body can begin to heal itself. Participants will learn the location of these pathways as well as how to open them up using their hands. The Emerson Wellness Center for Mind and Body will be offering a two-session Jin Shin Jyutsu class, on October 19 and November 2. The class will be taught by Kate Smyers, RN, BSN and costs $60 to participate. Participants will meet at The Emerson Wellness Center for Mind and Body, located at 310 Baker Avenue in Concord. Free parking is available in the office park. For more information and to register for this class and many other wellness classes taking place this fall at The Emerson Wellness Center for Mind and Body, visit www.emersonwellness.org or call 978-287-3777.
