Millions of people suffer daily with chronic back and neck pain. The cause of the pain can be from different sources – nerves, muscles, degenerative disc disease, arthritis and other conditions. If you are suffering from back or neck pain or know someone who is, plan to attend a free seminar given by Emerson Hospital on Thursday, May 14 at 6:00 pm at the Westford Regency, 219 Littleton Road in Westford.
Attendees will explore the latest treatment options with neurosurgeon, Robert Whitmore, MD and Terrie Enis, physical therapist and director of Emerson’s Center for Rehabilitative and Sports Therapies. Attendees will also discover contemporary techniques including exercise programs, injections and rehabilitative and complementary therapies, which help relieve pain and improve mobility.
Dr. Whitmore is a highly skilled neurosurgeon who joined the Lahey Spine Program at Emerson Hospital in 2013. He completed a residency in Neurosurgery at the University of Pennsylvania Health System and a fellowship in minimally invasive spinal surgery and complex spinal instrumentation at Pennsylvania Hospital. Dr. Whitmore is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Tufts School of Medicine and is nationally-recognized for his research on spinal surgery outcomes.
Terrie Enis, PT, MSPT, has nearly twenty years of experience in physical rehabilitation. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell with a master’s degree in physical therapy. Early in her career she work in orthopedic clinics developing orthopedic sports and manual therapy skills. Her clinical expertise includes rehabilitation of the athlete and spinal rehabilitation. She was named Clinical Educator of the Year by the New England Consortium of Academic Coordinators of Clinical Education.
