At Emerson Hospital’s annual Physician Recognition Dinner, Sheila Kennedy, MD, received the 2015 Physician Quality Champion Award. Dr. Kennedy joined Emerson in 1992 and she has served as the Chairman of Emerson’s Department of Medicine since 2010. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and is a resident of Westford.
“Sheila is an extraordinary physician who has defined her role by her consistent commitment to identify, review and examine best practices in patient care and quality. She has a steadfast dedication to providing the very best health care to the patients at Emerson,” said Christine Schuster, President and CEO of Emerson Hospital. “With her ability to recognize exceptional care and her passion to do what is right for patients at all times, she is an unequivocal leader of our Department of Medicine. Prior recipients of Emerson’s coveted Physician Quality Champion award include Dr. Michael Doyle, Emerson’s Emergency Department, Dr. Scott Paparello, Acton Medical Associates, Dr. Cathy Price, Associate Director Hospital Medicine Service, the OB/GYN staff and Drs. Gert-Paul Walter, David Handin and George Gonzalez, physician leaders of the Stroke Service. The award was presented to Dr. Kennedy amidst a standing ovation at the Emerson Hospital Physician Recognition Dinner held last month at the Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord.
