At Emerson Hospital’s Annual Meeting held recently, ten residents of Concord were elected as Corporators of the hospital. Corporators represent the health interests of the 25 communities served by Emerson. They become very knowledgeable about the hospital’s mission and the services it provides by attending educational programs and meeting with hospital leaders and clinicians.
“As Emerson continues to succeed as a top community hospital, our Corporators are an integral part of its mission to provide the best health care to every person in the 25 towns that the hospital serves,” said Paul D. Birch, Chair, Emerson Hospital Board of Directors and Concord resident. “Through their work as ambassadors and informed citizens, they educate the community on the many ways that Emerson is providing sophisticated technology and advanced, quality care. We are grateful to our Corporators who have taken on the responsibility to serve their community and Emerson in this important way.”
Emerson relies on its volunteer corporators as ambassadors of the hospital through the work they do communicating information about the hospital's programs and services to the residents and businesses in their communities. Corporators also elect the hospital’s Board of Directors and Corporators every year at the hospital’s annual meeting.

Emerson Hospital’s new Corporators from Concord are:
Charles B. Gordy, Esq., a Director of Planned Giving at Harvard Law School. Prior to that, he managed planned giving services for The Bank of New York and was the Director of Planned Giving at Yale University and Tufts University. Mr. Gordy has served on the boards of the American Council on Gift Annuities, the National Committee on Planned Giving and the Planned Giving Group of New England.
Sarah Hindle, a resident of Concord since the 1960s. Sarah was involved for many years with the Concord Museum and she remains an Honorary Trustee. She has served on the Boards of the Concord Public Library and the Virginia Thurston Healing Garden in Harvard. She is an active supporter of many Concord-based organizations.
Thomas J. Hudner III, Chief Development Officer for Boston Medflight. Prior to this role, he worked for Middlesex School, The Fenn School, Eduvenutres and The Lynch Foundation. He is a coach for Concord-Carlisle Youth Lacrosse, serves as an alumni volunteer at Middlesex School and is on the Membership Committee of the Concord Country Club.
John M. Lowe III, Ph.D., Associate Dean of Business at Simmons College. He served on the Emerson Hospital Board from 1996-2016 and is a past Chair. John has served on the boards of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration, the Massachusetts Hospital Association and the Domestic Violence Victim Assistance Program.
Kimberly Patenaude, a Realtor for Barrett Sotheby’s International Real Estate. She was a Board Member of the Concord Ed Fund, PTG Board Member of the Willard School and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She is a member of the National Association of Realtors and the Greater Boston Real Estate Board. In addition, she serves on the Emerson Hospital Run ~ Walk Committee.
Ann W. Sharpe, a professional in product marketing and advertising. She is an active volunteer in the community. Ann works with young children in the Stoneymeade Farm Therapeutic Riding program, is a member of the Concord Academy Parents Executive Committee and the Fenn School Parents Association.
Patricia B. Siefer, an attorney with Harsip & Stuart, PC, a firm in Acton specializing in family law. She is Co-President of Concord-Carlisle Community Chest and Co-President of the Parent Teacher Group at Thoreau Elementary School. Trish has served on the Auxiliary of Emerson Hospital.
Lowell S. Smith, recently retired from the finance and investment industry. He has been a Director and Treasurer of Orchard House for more than 15 years. In addition, he is a Trustee of the Concord Free Public Library, is Chair of the Audit Committee of Concord Academy and serves on the Investment Committee of the Concord Museum.
Andrew Thut, has spent his career in finance, mostly as a Founding Partner at Kea Private Capital, an investment firm focused on private market investments. He serves on the finance Committee of the Trinitarian Congregational Church and supports many local charities, including the Concord-Carlisle Community Chest and the Concord Education Fund.
Philip vanderWilden, the Executive Director of the Crawford Idema Family Foundation. He serves as Vice President of the Board of Household Goods in Acton and is a Trustee of Parish Donations. Philip was Board President and a Founding Board Member of the Jericho Road Project and he has served on the Concord-Carlisle Community Chest Allocations Committee.
These corporators from Concord are part of the class of 2018 which is comprised of corporators from towns throughout Emerson Hospital’s service area including Acton, Carlisle, Lexington, Sudbury and Westford.
