Exercise as Medicine for People with Parkinson’s

Emerson Hospital’s Center for Rehabilitative and Sports Therapies is holding a free lecture for people with Parkinson’s disease (PD). The presentation, “Exercise as Medicine for Individuals with Parkinson’s disease,” will take place on Friday, April 22 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the Center for Rehabilitative and Sports Therapies, 310 Baker Avenue, Concord in the Concord Meadows office park.

Participants will receive information to optimize brain health and learning.  They will also learn how to address the motor, cognitive and emotional symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. The most recent research-based evidence for exercise as a first-line of defense in PD will be shared.

Becky Farley, PhD, MS, PT, will lead the workshop.  Dr. Farley has more than 30 years of experience in neurorehabilitation and is the CEO and Founder of the nonprofit Parkinson Wellness Recovery program.  She has studied bradykinesia and developed the LSVT®BIG exercise program.  Dr. Farley is a leader in the Parkinson’s exercise movement.
