At Emerson Hospital’s Annual Meeting held recently, five Concord residents were elected as Corporators of the hospital. Corporators represent the health interests of the 25 communities served by Emerson.
“As Emerson continues to succeed as a top community hospital in today’s challenging health care environment, our Corporators are an integral part of our mission to provide the best health care to every person in the many towns that the hospital and health system serves,” said Paul D. Birch, Chair, Emerson Hospital Board of Directors. “Through their work as ambassadors, they educate the community on ways that Emerson is expanding its services to treat an ever-growing population using the latest technology and surgical techniques and state-of-the-art equipment, while maintaining its focus on providing the highest quality compassionate care to patients. We are grateful to our Corporators who have accepted the responsibility to serve the community in this important way.”
Emerson relies on its volunteer corporators as ambassadors of the hospital through the work they do communicating information about the hospital's programs and services to the residents and businesses in their communities. Corporators also elect the hospital’s Board of Directors and new Corporators each year at the hospital’s annual meeting.

Emerson Hospital’s new Corporators from Concord are:
Ellen Campbell who has served as a classroom teacher for more than thirty years. She currently teaches English and Social Studies at The Fenn School in Concord. Ellen served on the boards of the Friends of the concord Free Public Library and the Concord Carlisle Community Chest. “I appreciate having Emerson Hospital nearby and believe Emerson’s focus on wellness is an essential part of healthcare,” said Ellen.
Luann Jammal, who, along with her husband, Elie, have developed commercial property in New England for over thirty years. She currently serves on the Board of Visitors at Nashoba Brooks School, where her three children attended. LuAnn believes that Emerson Hospital is an essential part of this community for all families, including her three children and two grandchildren.
Tom Matthews who has been a residential realtor for the past 16 years. He is part of the Concord Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Concord Board of Assessors. In addition, he is a member of the Concord Business Networking International (BNI) referral organization. His family’s affiliations with Emerson are numerous, including his father choosing the hospital for his cancer treatments. When Tom was in high school he worked at Emerson and feels like he is coming full circle in his role as corporator.
Amy Simon who is an avid volunteer in the community, extensively focusing her energy within the schools her children attended, as well as serving on the board of the Concord Education Fund and volunteering over the years at Open Table and the Concord Carlisle Community Chest. She has always felt it is a gift to have Emerson Hospital in the town in which her family lived and she is excited to join the hospital as a Corporator.
Billie Julier Wyeth lived in Concord as a child and returned with her own family in 1996. Her initial career was in book publishing, working in marketing at Houghton Mifflin and Harvard Business School Press. After serving as a trustee at Concord Academy, she managed alumnae/i programming and donor programs at the school. Emerson Hospital has cared for her three generations of family over the years.
These corporators from Concord are part of the class of 2020 which is comprised of corporators from towns throughout Emerson Hospital’s service area including Acton, Bedford, Carlisle, Groton, Littleton and Maynard.
