Announcing the Emerson Health 2023 Community Benefit Grant Recipients

Emerson Health is pleased to announce the recipients of its fourth annual Community Benefit Grant Program, based on a comprehensive application and review process. Sixteen nonprofit organizations throughout the health system’s communities were awarded a financial grant to improve community health. The recipients are focused on improving the mental health of community members, supporting the health and wellness of older adults, reducing food insecurity, and increasing financial stability.

“These organizations are working hard to improve the health of their communities through impactful programs and education,” said Christine Gallery, senior vice president of planning at Emerson Health. “A vital part of Emerson’s mission is to serve the health needs of everyone in the region. We are pleased to partner with these local organizations that are intrinsic to our mission and are making a deeply positive impact on people’s lives.”

The following organizations received a Community Benefit Grant from Emerson Health:

• Acton Boxborough United Way to support community members in need with essential resources and career planning
• Acton Health Division to help the community learn about dementia
• Be Well Be Here for More Mindful Meditation for live and virtual programs to support mindfulness and mental health
• Boys and Girls Club of Assabet Valley to implement a social-emotional learning program for elementary school students presented by ThinkGive
• Clear Path for Veterans to evaluate suicide prevention programs for female veterans
• Concord-Carlisle Adult and Community Education to provide English Language Learner classes in various levels
• Discovery Museum to provide accessible nature play for children with disabilities
• First Connections to help increase access and supply of diapers for families in need
• Friends of Indian Senior Citizen Organization (FISCO) to support the healthy aging of older adults in the local South Asian community
• Gaining Ground for planting and harvesting culturally-relevant crops for people who experience food insecurity
• Gifts of Hope Unlimited to provide household and basic need items to those impacted by relationship violence
• Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell to help seniors age safely with impactful, low-cost modifications to their homes
• Metro Community Development Corporation to help residents who experience hoarding
• Open Table to expand access to personal care items such as diapers, feminine hygiene and cleaning supplies for community members in need
• The NAN Project to promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention at Chelmsford High School
• Town of Westford to train faith leaders about ways to support those with mental health issues
