Auxiliary of Emerson Hospital Celebrates 27th Annual Tree of Lights Holiday Tradition

12/10/2015

On December 7th, the Auxiliary of Emerson Hospital held its 27th annual Tree of Lights ceremony at Emerson Hospital. Emerson Chaplain Timothy Duff led the ceremony; his message included encouragement for all to be thankful for the gifts we have been given and hope for our future.  The Holy Family Parish Handbell Choir of Concord, led by James Barkovic, provided festive holiday music.  Christine Schuster, president and CEO of Emerson Hospital, reflected on this Emerson tradition, the beauty of the now-lit evergreen tree that gracesthe main entrance to the hospital, and how the tree honors loved ones and caregivers who have made a difference in people’s lives. This year the tree lighters were Chaplain Duff’s delightful daughters, Kylie and Jaelyn.

Funds are raised for this holiday tradition through donations of a light or star on the tree to honor a loved one, or commemorate a special event.  This year over $5,000 has been raised with all proceeds going to the Emerson Hospital Employee Emergency Assistance Fund. The Fund supports Emerson employees who need emergency financial assistance.  All donations are recognized in the Auxiliary’s Tree of Lights Tribute Book which is on display in Emerson’s chapel throughout the holiday season.

Donations can be made throughout the holiday season and are $10 for a light or $25 for a star on the tree.  Please mail your donation to Martha Joumas, 336 Lexington Road, Concord, MA  07142.  Donations can also be dropped off at Emerson’s Community Services Office found in the main hallway.  For more information, contact Donna Grinnell at 978-263-9830 or donnagrin@aol.com

The Auxiliary wishes to thank this year’s sponsors: Circle of Life Partners, Laura Mullins of PrimeLending and Dee Funeral Home of Concord.
