For the second year in a row, Cambridge Savings Bank is the Presenting Sponsor of the annual Emerson Hospital 5k Run ~ Walk for Cancer. The 16th annual community-wide event will take place on Saturday, June 4 at The Thoreau Club, 275 Forest Ridge Road, Concord. The event raises funds to support cancer care at the Mass General Cancer Center at Emerson Hospital - Bethke.
According to Ellen Poisson, Concord Branch Manager, Cambridge Savings Bank, “As a true community bank, Cambridge Savings is deeply involved with supporting the financial needs of local people and families, while Emerson supports the health care needs of people and families in the community. It is a natural partnership for Cambridge Savings and Emerson Hospital to work together to help the community thrive. Our partnership last year was a great success and we are delighted to participate again this year.”
Each year, the Emerson Hospital 5k Run ~ Walk for Cancer brings the community together with a common goal of supporting care for cancer patients at Emerson. “We are fortunate to have exceptional cancer care at Emerson right in our community,” said John Hickling, Emerson Hospital Board member, Run ~ Walk Co-Chair and a member of the Concord Runners group. “We are excited to have hundreds of families, runners and walkers participate in the Run ~ Walk this year to raise money for cancer care and enjoy a day of family fun and wellness.”
This year, the event will feature a timed 5k Run, a 5k Walk, a one-mile Fun Run for children ages 5-12, awards ceremonies, lunch and family activities including swimming, tie dye t-shirts, an inflatable obstacle course, volleyball, badminton, access to the pool and more.
