New Physician Joins Concord Gastroenterology Associates

Dr. John Dowd Now Accepting New Patients

John Dowd, DO, recently joined Concord Gastroenterology Associates and is accepting new patients at 131 Old Road to Nine Acre Corner in the John Cuming Building of Emerson Hospital, Suite 650 in Concord. He is board-certified in gastroenterology.  

“I am excited to join the Concord Gastroenterology Associates team because working at Emerson Hospital gives me the opportunity to establish strong patient/doctor relationships in the towns where we all live and work,” said Dr. Dowd.  “I enjoy working with patients to help them better understand their role in their digestive health and how it can impact their overall health. By being an active listener and engaging with my patients, I am better able to diagnose, treat them, and provide a higher level of personalized care.” 

Dr. Dowd received his medical degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery at Des Moines University. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed his fellowship in gastroenterology and clinical nutrition at the Yale University, Norwalk Hospital program and received additional training in advanced therapeutic biliary endoscopy at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. 

His clinical interests include: Esophageal disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer screening and prevention, biliary and pancreatic disorders, and clinical nutrition. Dr. Dowd lives in Wayland and enjoys spending time with his family. He loves the outdoors and is an avid cyclist, both mountain biking and road riding and also enjoys hiking and traveling.
