If you or a loved one is looking for a great workout that will improve both mental and physical health, the Steinberg Wellness Center for Mind and Body at Emerson Hospital is offering a Qigong/Tai Chi Combination class this January. Studies have shown that qigong and tai chi help to improve mental health as well as lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of falling. The Qigong/Tai Chi Combination class will meet on Wednesdays at 4:15 – 5:15 p.m., starting January 9. Another session begins on February 20. The cost is $90 for a six-week session or $17 per class as a drop-in option. The instructor is Pam Vlahakis whose teaching is inspired by continuing study and training yoga therapy and medical qigong. She is a popular instructor who has taught wellness classes for more than ten years. The classes will meet at the Steinberg Wellness Center, located at 310 Baker Avenue in Concord, near the Residence Inn hotel. Free parking is available in the office park. Taking wellness classes has proven to help reduce depression, loneliness and mental health issues, while improving overall health. For more information and to register for these and many other wellness classes taking place this winter at the Steinberg Wellness Center, visit www.emersonwellness.org or call 978-287-3777.
