Susanne Liebich, instructor with The Steinberg Wellness Center at Emerson Hospital, is the first person in Massachusetts to earn a Certification in Dance for Parkinson’s Disease (PD®). Dance for PD classes at the Steinberg Wellness Center invite those with PD and caregivers to experience the benefits and joys of dance while helping to enhance balance, cognition, mobility, depression and physical confidence. Many scientific research studies prove the benefits of dance for those with PD. To earn the certification, Susanne spent 18 months doing self-study and peer evaluation focused on the value of dance as an effective treatment for Parkinson’s. Dance for Parkinson’s classes are held on Thursdays from 10:30 to 11:40 a.m. at The Steinberg Wellness Center, 310 Baker Avenue, Concord. The summer session begins July 11th. All levels are welcome and caregivers are invited for free. Visit emersonwellness.org to register.
