Get the care you need as quickly as possible. Emergency Department's should be reserved for emergencies-only. Know where to go for care at Emerson based on your condition.
If your symptoms do not require emergency care, please call your primary care physician, visit an Urgent Care Center or use Emerson Health Virtual Urgent Care. Emerson Health Urgent Care Centers are staffed by board-certified physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, certified radiology technicians, and other medical professionals specially trained in acute care medicine for all ages.

KNow WHere to Go
- Cold, flu, and sore throat
- Ear, sinus, or urinary tract infections
- Headaches and muscle pains
- Stomach pains, nausea, diarrhea, or constipation
- Minor scrapes and bruises
- Primary care concerns (mentioned above) when you are unable to see your PCP
- General wound care, cuts, or lacerations
- Sprains, strains, simple fractures
- Minor burns
- Minor animal bites or stings
- Rashes, poison ivy, or other skin issues
- Chest pain or difficulty breathing
- Serious burns, cuts, or lacerations
- Head or eye injuries
- Severe abdominal pain
- Fainting, changes in mental state, or slurred speech
- Broken bones or dislocated joints
- Weakness or numbness on one side
If you are experiencing severe chest or abdominal pain, have sustained multiple injuries, or are unsure if your condition is serious, life threatening, or feel it may be worsening, then go directly to the nearest hospital or call 911.
