In Gary Stanton, MD, a neurologist at Emerson, Ms. Starr found a physician who is helping her manage the disease in a way that she appreciates: mainly by searching for ways to address her symptoms.

Laura Doyon, MD, a board-certified bariatric surgeon who practices at Emerson Hospital’s Center for Weight Loss, has been certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. She is the first bariatric surgeon in the state of Massachusetts to be certified in both bariatric surgery and obesity medicine.

Emerson Hospital has again been honored with an “A” Hospital Safety Score by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit run by employers and other large purchasers of health benefits. Emerson has now earned eleven straight As for Safety since 2013. The results are available to the public and are designed to give consumers information they can use to protect themselves and their families when facing a hospital stay.
